Description

Byamugisha Mark  Kassi was born in Kampala Uganda. Kassi is a graduate of Kyambogo University, where he studied for a Diploma in Textiles and Fabric Decoration.  His strong passion for painting coerced him to pursue art on he’s own while at University in his first year, after realizing that painting wasn’t part of his university course.

Kassi has experimented with various drawing and painting media for over 10 years settling for Acrylic on canvas Painting. Kassi’s paintings have a unique texture and he applies paint to the canvas in form of segments and recently washes.

Kassi draws inspiration from social issues, the people he meets and for the past two years Photography which he uses to capture and paint a series of kids studies in the vicinity of his studio, some of the series are exhibited  here in the JonaQuestArt Collection.

Kassi believes in giving back to community. He is part of a number of initiatives in Kigali that reach out to the disadvantaged children and contribute to paying for their school fees for them to attend school.

Kassi has participated in a number of exhibitions in East Africa, some of which includes, Watatu Gallery, East African Art biennale 2007, Diani Art Gallery Mombasa, Banana Hill Art Gallery, Nomo Gallery, Uganda German Cultural Society (UGCS}, Sheraton Uganda,  Tulifanya Gallery, The Golden Tulip hotel Darussalam and The Tullow Oil Signature Art Exhibition Kampala.Tulip Hotel Juba, Banana Hill Art Gallery, Catch the sun gallery, Gallery Café Nairobi, Niyo Gallery.
