Anthony Bumhira graduated from the National gallery of Zimbabwe arts school, the B.A.T Visual Arts Studios. After graduated in 2005, he was selected to be an artist in residence at the same institution for two years.

In 2008, he was invited to have his first solo exhibition at the National Gallery of Zimbabwe, due to the popularity of his work and distinctive style.

As part of the Summer Exhibition at the renowned Gallery Delta Foundation of Arts and humanities in Harare, Bumhira was awarded the 2010 Merit Award.

Over the years, Bumhira’s works has been exhibited as part of group exhibitions in Zimbabwe, France and the U.S. His work exists in private collections around the world. It is with great excitement that we are exhibiting his work as part of the JonaQuestArt Collection in the UK for the first times. We showcased his work as part of our first Pop up Art Gallery and they received great reviews.

Bumhira’s style is semi-abstract in nature, specialising in sketches of rural life with an infusion of reds and yellows in his works. More recently, he has started creating abstract portraits using thick bold marking techniques, which can be seen in this collection below.
