Lilian Hollingdale was born in East End of London in 1943. She attended Coborn Grammar School. Unfortunately not allowed to take Art as a subject although she wanted to be an artist like her uncle and aunt.

Instead she was made to take all of the science subjects, so when she left school she  went to work as a lab technician for Marks and Spencers in Baker Street and had several jobs in accounts until she married and had 3 daughters . She did not work again until they were old enough. She then finished working at adjudication in local jobcentre for the last 11 years until She retired.

Hollingdale  joined Petts Wood art Group and was then helped and encouraged to paint. First painted in watercolours and oil, but found she enjoyed doing abstract as she felt it was her own creation. Her chairman at the art group , encouraged her to sell at various exhibitions , and gradually she became more confident. She likes to do something different every time, whether it is Landscapes, people or  Abstracts.

Some of the things she has painted have been a challenge to me but that makes it all the more interesting.

Lillian lives and works in Kent in the U.K.
